Myers Andrew

Andrew Myers, a sophomore accounting major, is the owner of Andrew Myers Visuals and an affiliate in the Samford Startup student business incubator program.

What is the story of your company? How did it start?

Photography started as a hobby for me in high school. It was a way I could show my creativity and it was something I enjoyed. When I learned I could use my gifts and get paid to do it that was when it became a business.

Why did you want to join the Samford Startup program?

I wanted to learn from others who also share an entrepreneurial mind as I do and just take risks while I am still young to maybe achieve something for the future.

How has the Samford Startup program supported your business?

It has been very motivating to create more and improve in areas that I would not have otherwise thought about. It’s been a culture that has produced a great like-minded community.

What has been the most challenging part of launching your business? How did you overcome this?

I think the most challenging part has been finding clients and getting my name out there because I do not do much advertising at all.

How has the Samford Startup program helped you grow professionally?

It has taught me to think more professionally and think and plan things out but to also just go for it.

How has the Samford Startup program helped you achieve or exceed your business goals?

It has provided a community of like-minded business owners who all share common goals but have many different perspectives so it’s a great way to come together and share ideas with one another.

Looking to the future, what do you envision for your business?

I see it being more of a side hustle out of college at least as of right now. I want to begin doing more work in my niche.

How is your business redemptive in a Christ-like manner?

It is just able to capture the beauty and awe of God's beautiful creation and photography has been a tool to allow me to appreciate and see art more.

How do you see your company having an impact on the Samford and Birmingham communities?

I think it can have a big impact on both the people I interact with and the stories I’m able to capture through a lens.

Why would you encourage other student entrepreneurs to join the program?

I think this program is a really great tool for young entrepreneurs to take risks and see if their entrepreneurial endeavors can actually be something. This program has also provided a like-minded community supporting and pushing one another to help complete each other’s goals.
